Graston Therapy
Graston Technique (GT) is an advanced therapeutic form of myofascial release and deep tissue treatment. It is used to effectively detect and treat scar tissue, adhesions and restrictions that are common causes of pain, weakness, and limited mobility.
GT averages an 87% success rate in treating many common conditions like sprains, strains, muscle spasm, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, rotator cuff injuries, shoulder problems and many more.
Graston is now used often by more than 60 professional and amateur sports organizations such as the Indianapolis Colts (2007 Superbowl Champs!), Tennessee Titans, Miami Heat, Chicago White Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, even the PGA tour. This is truly an advanced, highly-effective, AND cost-effective treatment for those wishing to regain and maintain proper motion and function.

Graston breaks down scar tissue and reduces restrictions in the soft tissue with the assistance of stainless steel instruments designed to fit the contour of the body. The tools are used to scan the area and assist clinicians to locate and then treat the injured tissue that is causing pain and restricting motion. Clinicians utilize the instruments to supply precise pressure to break up scar tissue, which relieves the discomfort and restores normal function.
Scar tissue limits range of motion, and in many instances causes pain, which prevents the patient from functioning as he or she did before the injury. When viewed under a microscope, normal tissue can take a couple of different fashions: dense, regular elongated fibers running in the same direction, such as tendons and ligaments; or dense, irregular and loose with fibers running in multiple directions. In either instance, when tissue is damaged it will heal in a haphazard pattern–or scarring–that results in a restricted range of motion and, very often, pain.
Historically, GT has resolved 87% or more of all conditions treated … without drugs and surgery! Graston Technique is effective because it provides controlled micro trauma to the affected soft tissue structures. It also stimulates a local inflammatory response, which leads to remodeling and repair of affected soft tissues structures. The instruments allow therapists to specify the area that is being treated.
If surgery has been recommended and you are looking for alternatives, consider Graston. It is non-invasive, highly-effective, AND cost-effective. If you have been through surgery and are still experiencing pain or decreased motion, Graston could be your answer.
It is equally effective with acute and chronic injuries, as well as pre and post surgical patients. GT has effectively treated many conditions including:

It is common to experience minor discomfort during the procedure and slight bruising over the treatment site afterwards. This is a normal and part of the healing process. Soreness and bruising can be minimized with ice and Arnica after treatment.
Graston sessions are typically quick and last anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Best results are achieved when treatments are applied two days a week for an average of 4-5 weeks. Most people notice a positive response around the 3rd and 4th treatment. Treatments are designed specifically for your condition and your personal health status. Some conditions need less time, while others require more in depth treatment. Generally, the more chronic the condition, the more treatments are needed, and the more it will cost. This is why it is very important to get checked out as soon as possible. The five deadliest words in health are “Maybe it will go away!”
Treatments start at $20. Contact us today to see if we are currently offering our OWC practice members a special savings opportunity on Graston … please contact us for more information!
